MAC Shy Girl, Please Me and Up The Amp Lipstick | Review and Swatches

Friday 31 October 2014

Hello beauties, welcome back to my blog! If you follow me on Instagram (@ninashausofmakeup) then you would've seen that my wonderful sister, Jennifer, gifted me three gorgeous MAC lipsticks which I've had my eye on for awhile. If I had to recommend just one product or category from MAC, hands down it would be their lipsticks. My first high end purchase when I was around 15-16 was a MAC lipstick in the shade 'Lady Bug', a lovely classic red shade which I still own! Although it retails for $36AUD, it was well worth it because after all these years, here I am still purchasing MAC lipsticks and adding more and more shades into my never ending collection. I definitely think this was a .. I guess you could call it, 'turning point in my life' where I started to become interested in makeup and beauty. Anyways, enough rambling!
My sister bought me, Shy Girl (a peachy nude with a creamsheen finish), Please Me (a warm toned pink with a matte finish) and Up The Amp (a pink toned purple with an amplified finish) and I'm in love with all three of them. I didn't even realise I chose lipsticks from different colour families .. I thought that was pretty cool haha!

Please Me is a soft, matte pink which is perfect for that 'Girl Next Door' kind of look. I think this is a super girly and feminine shade that adds just that pop of brightness with it's warm, pink undertones. This lipstick can go with a variety of makeup looks, whether you're rocking a smokey eye or just a bold, winged liner with some fabulous falsies.

Up The Amp is a beautifully formulated warm toned pinky-purple which may seem a little daunting at first application but really, it's a gorgeous shade for day or night time wear. I think this is a great shade to spice up any look or outfit, especially if you're wearing muted, or monotoned styled clothing, this will lipstick will give it that extra somethin' somethin'.

Lastly, Shy Girl is the perfect peach nude for my NC30 skin tone, I think it's one of the best neutral shades to compliment any makeup look but at the same time, doesn't wash out (compared to Creme D'Nude) your face but still adds a little touch of colour and warms the complexion without going overboard. I love pairing this lipstick with a classic day time smokey eye whilst keeping it clean and simple on the lips.

All lipsticks apply nice and smoothly over the lips without emphasising any lines or dry patches. They all apply evenly and have fantastic colour payoff with just one swipe and are definitely true to the colour of the lipstick bullet. I haven't had one bad experience with MAC lipsticks, these three shades in particular have been rotating around in my handbag for the past month and a bit! I would recommend all three shades if you're venturing out to a MAC counter soon, I think they're worth testing out if you're interested in these types of shades. I also think they'll be great for the upcoming Summer time here in Australia!

That's a wrap to this post guys, I hope October is treated you well. I hope you all enjoyed reading and also, leave a comment below telling me your favourite MAC lipstick or MAC product in general! I would love to know.

But until next time, xx
